JSUMAHS VICE-CHANCELLOR PAYS SECOND VISIT TO GUMEL EMIRATE COUNCIL, COMMISERATES WITH EMIRATE OVER DEMISE OF LATE EMIR AND CONGRATULATES NEW MONARCH

The Vice-Chancellor of Jigawa State University of Medical and Allied Health Sciences (JSUMAHS), Majia, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani, has led a delegation of the University’s principal officers on a second visit to the Gumel Emirate Council to condole with the Emirate and congratulate the newly enthroned 17th Emir of Gumel.

The visit, which took place following the delegation’s earlier attendance at the Janaza of the late Emir on 4 September 2026, was aimed at formally conveying the University community’s condolences over the death of His Highness, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani II, as well as extending congratulations to the new Emir on his ascension to the throne.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar, Muhammad Sale; Bursar, Sani Ahmad Sulaiman; University Librarian, Dr Muhammad Yusuf; Director, General Administration, A.B. Shehu, PhD; Dean, School of General and Preliminary Studies, Dr Usman Muhammad Ibrahim; Chief Security Officer, Alhaji Salisu Abdulkadir; and other senior officials of the University.

The delegation was received at the Gumel Emirate Council by the Dallatun Gumel, Alhaji Musa Ayuba, and the Secretary to the Gumel Emirate Council, Alhaji Murtala Aliyu.

Speaking during the visit, Professor Mahmoud Umar Sani conveyed the heartfelt condolences of the entire University community to the Gumel Emirate Council and the people of Gumel over the passing of the late Emir.

He described the late monarch as a father, a respected peace-builder and a strong supporter of education and development in Jigawa State, noting that his contributions to the advancement of the State and the well-being of his people would be remembered.

The Vice-Chancellor also extended the University’s warm congratulations and best wishes to the newly installed Emir, praying for wisdom, good health, peace and a successful reign.

On behalf of the University, Professor Sani formally presented two official letters to the Emirate Council, one conveying the University’s condolences over the demise of the late Emir and the other conveying its congratulatory message to the new Emir.

The management of JSUMAHS reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with traditional institutions and other stakeholders in promoting peace, community development, and the advancement of health, education, and human development across Jigawa State.

In his response, the Dallatun Gumel, Alhaji Musa Ayuba, welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and members of the University’s management team and expressed appreciation for the gesture.

He noted that the visit demonstrated the cordial relationship and mutual respect between JSUMAHS and the Gumel Emirate, describing the University’s continued engagement with the Emirate as a reflection of its commitment to maintaining strong ties with traditional institutions.

In closing, the University Librarian, Dr Muhammad Yusuf, offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Emir, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Sani II. He also prayed for divine guidance, wisdom, good health, and a peaceful and prosperous reign for the new Emir.
