10 die, one injured in Jigawa auto crash
The police command in Jigawa says 10 persons were killed after Monday’s auto crash in Yanfari Village in Taura Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday in Kano.
“The Jigawa State Police Command regrets to announce that on November 12, 2024, at about 2130hrs, a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred in Yanfari village, Taura LGA, along the Kano/Hadejia Road.
“The accident occurred on Monday when a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number HDJ 631 YDD, was coming from Kano to Hadejia and jammed a parked trailer with registration number RGN180 ZC as result of which the vehicle summersulted,” he said.
He said the driver of the vehicle and nine other passengers died on the spot while one passenger sustained injuries.
“On receipt of the tragic incident, the patrol team attached to Taura Division rushed to the scene where 10 corpses were evacuated to Hadejia General Hospital for medical examinations.
“The medical doctor on call certified them dead, while the remaining one passenger was admitted at Majia Primary Health Care Centre and he is responding to treatment,” he said.
He said that the police had commenced investigations to unravel the cause of the accident.
