2027: My Performance Will Speak for Me, Gov Yusuf Replies Kano APC
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State says he is not bothered about the 2027 elections for now as his performance will speak for him when the time comes.
The governor lampooned the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, claiming that its members are sowing seeds of division to create unnecessary political tension in the state.
According to a statement by his media aide, Sunusi Bature, the governor made the remarks during the state’s monthly women empowerment programme on Wednesday.
“What I am worried about is not re-election. I am more concerned about delivering the dividends of democracy on the mandate given to me in this first tenure. I want the good people of Kano to judge me by my performance at the end of this tenure,” Yusuf said.
He said that the opposition APC members will be rejected by the electorate in 2027 just like they were “massively rejected in both 2019 and 2023”.
“We won against them at a time when we had no political office – not even a councillor – but Allah made it possible for us to win with a landslide victory,” he added.
Yusuf cautioned the leadership of the APC in Kano state to refrain from inciting statements and hate speeches capable of scaring eligible voters.
“I am destined to be a Governor. It is my total belief and submission to the will of Allah that if He so wills, I will serve a second term, if not, I won’t. So why should I bother myself?” he asked.
