23 persons killed in Maiduguri’s multiple blasts- Police

The police command in Borno, say at least 23 persons died after Monday’s multiple suicide bombings in Maiduguri.
Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso Kenneth, stated this in a statement issued on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the incidents were carried out by suspected suicide bombers.

“Regrettably, a total of twenty three (23) persons lost their lives, while one hundred and eight (108) others sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Kenneth said.

He said that normalcy had been restored in the affected areas, adding that the swift response of the police and other security agencies ensured that the situation was brought under control.
He added that clearance operations by the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit of the police, were being carried out to ensure the safety of residents and prevent further threats in the affected areas.
He advised residents of Maiduguri to remain calm while maintaining vigilance and cooperating with security agencies.
He also urged members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest security formation.
