At least 10 persons were abducted by suspected bandits in Tsanyanwa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State, after an attack on Monday night.

A source told newsmen on Tuesday that the attackers invaded the area around 8:00 p.m. on Monday, targeting Biresawa and Tsundu villages.

“The bandits came from Rimaye in neighbouring Katsina State on 10 motorcycles, with three riders per bike,” the  source who spoke on anonymous condition said.

He stated that six persons (five women and one man) were abducted in Biresawa village, while four others (three women and two men) were abducted in Tsundu village.

“They came as usual, and from our findings so far, two males and six females were taken away by the bandits. Up till now, there is no news of their whereabouts.”

Also speaking, a relative of one of the victims in Biresawa, Malam Kabiru Usman, said the attackers struck and took the victims from neighbouring Tsundu village.

“They came on foot, armed with guns. They kidnapped my wife, Umma; my 17-year-old daughter, Fati; my brother’s wife, and two other women,” Usman said.

He said that community mobilised and tried to repel the attackers, but was overwhelmed.

“We tried to stop them, but they were carrying guns, so had to leave them, ” he said.

He added that residents also alerted security agencies in the  area prior to the attack.

“Before the attack, we got information that they were heading toward the village, and we reached out to the security agencies,  through their hot numbers, but no response,” he said.

Usman called on the government to rescue the kidnapped victims.

“We have been living in fear since we heard about attacks in other communities. We need the government to help us and protect us”.

The spokesperson for the police command in  the  state, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed the attack, saying that the police were on top of the situation.
