3 Teenage Girls Drown in Jigawa

Three teenage girls have died after drowning in a pond on Saturday in Tulla village, Buji local government area of Jigawa state.
The girls were said to have gone to the outskirts of the village to get fodder for their livestock when they fell into the pond where they died before they could be rescued.
A civil defence officer, Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud, gave the names of the girls as
Fatima Sule (12), Nasiya Sale (12), and Huwaila Sa’adu (13).
He said that the incident occurred at about 11am on Saturday and their bodies were found and evacuated after about 30 minutes search of the pond before taking them to the village health center where a medical officer confirmed them dead.
The official said that the remains of the deceased were handed over to their families and were buried according to Islamic practice.
