5.9m people face hunger, unsafe shelter, inadequate healthcare in North East- OCHA

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Nigeria, says more than 5.9 million people in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe continue to face hunger, unsafe shelter, limited water, and inadequate healthcare due to the Boko Haram insurgency.
In its Easter message to partners, OCHA stated that thousands of children also remained out of school, and protection risks.
“Dear partners, as we mark the Easter season, we invite you all to #RememberNENigeria.
“More than 5.9 million people in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe continue to face hunger, unsafe shelter, limited water, and inadequate healthcare. Thousands of children remain out of school, and protection risks, especially for girls, are rising.
“So far only a third of the $516 million 2026 humanitarian response appeal has been funded. Much more support is needed to cover this gap.
