5 Fake Police Officers Arrested In Kano
Five fake policemen who specialise in extorting extort innocent citizens and committing other nefarious activities in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna states, have been arrested.
The suspects, Aliyu Abbas, 35, Sani Iliyasu, 47, Ashiru Sule, 41, Abubakar Yahaya, 45, and Adamu Kalilu, 45, were arrested in Kano on 16th October 2025, at about 1:00 pm by operatives from the Kano State Police Command’s Special Intervention Squad (SIS).
A statement issued by the command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the suspects were found in possession of several incriminating items, including a fake Police Warrant Card, handcuffs, their operational vehicle, a blue Peugeot 406 with registration number NSR-189-BD, 2,500 CFA, and some mutilated Naira notes.
“During the investigation, the suspects confessed to engaging in a series of impersonations, admitting to using the fake Police Warrant Card to extort innocent citizens and commit other nefarious activities in Kano, Katsina, and Kaduna States.
“They will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation,” the statement added.
It said that the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has reaffirmed commitment to upholding law and order “and will not tolerate any form of criminal impersonation or illegal activities”.
