5 killed, 35 injured in Maiduguri Mosque Bombing – Police
The Borno State Police Command says five people lost their lives while 35 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in Wednesday’s bombing of Al-Adum Juma’at Mosque, located within Gamboru Market in Maiduguri.
The Police said “the incident may have been a suicide bombing, based on the recovery of fragments of a suspected suicide vest and witness statements recorded, while investigations are ongoing to establish the exact cause and circumstances.”
In a statement on Thursday by ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the command said its Explosive Ordnance Disposal officers are conducting thorough sweeping operations within and around the scene to rule out any secondary devices.
The police assured that normalcy has been restored, but advised the public to remain calm, watchful, avoid the affected area, and provide timely informations of anything or anyone suspicious.
The Syndicate reports that an explosion occurred on December 2025, at about 1800hrs, at the Mosque during prayers.
The Command also released emergency numbers 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293 for the public to call.
