5 States Get New Police Commissioners

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the posting of new Commissioners of Police to Borno, Cross-River, Jigawa, Osun and Ondo states, as well as two others to separate jurisdictions.

The newly posted Police Commissioners include Naziru D. Abdulmajid, Borno; Bello Rasheed Afegbua, Cross-River; Dahiru Mohammed, Jigawa; Adebowale Lawal, Ondo; Ibrahim Gotan, Osun; Eloho Edwin Okpoziakpo, Department of Training and Development, Force Headquarters; and Olusegun Eyitayo Omosayin, FCID Annex, Gombe State as CP General Investigation.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has charged them to uphold the principles of professionalism and quality leadership, and to rid their various states of criminal elements threatening national security.

The Force Headquarters said the postings, which took immediate effect, “are in furtherance of the IGP’s vision to ensure professional leadership in critical areas and enhance the operational effectiveness of the Force”.

“These strategic deployments are aimed at leveraging the vast wealth of Policing experience of the senior officers to drive effective policing and ensure the safety and security of citizens within their respective jurisdictions.”

The IGP reassured members of the public of the Police commitment to ensuring a safer and more secure nation, and called for continued support and collaboration of citizens in the collective fight against crime and criminality.
