NBAIS hails NUC for accepting its certificates for admission into tertiary institutions
The National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) has described the recent pronouncement by National Universities Commission (NUC) that universities would be accepting its certificates for admission into tertiary institutions as a welcome development.
Dr Abdulrashid Salman, acting Director of Administration and Human Resources Management for the board, who gave the commendation at a news conference in Zaria on Thursday, said that the institution was happy with the development.
Salman hinted that the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria had also directed its affiliate institutions to accept NBAIS’s Senior Arabic and Islamic Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (SAISSCE) results for admission into their respective institutions.
He said that the directives from the regulatory bodies were apt and timely, noting that some institutions had hitherto been denying candidates with SAISSCE admission to study medical and allied health courses.
According to him, NBAIS is an examination body under the Federal Ministry of Education conducting both internal and external examinations for SAISSCE candidates who are preparing for tertiary education.
He reiterated the institution’s commitment to the conduct of credible examinations.
Salman, however, said that the ongoing staff verification was being jointly conducted by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Federal Ministry of Education to get accurate records of the board’s personnel for eventual regularisation with the apex office.
