Gov. Uba Sani pledges full water supply to Kaduna in Q4 2025

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has pledged to restore full water supply to Kaduna, currently at just 25 percent, by the end of 2025.

The governor made the pledge when he inspected the water treatment plant in Kakuri, which has been dormant for years.

The Syndicate reports that the water supply system in Kaduna was muddled by the administration of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai in 2015, and since then the taps have remained largely dry across the metropolis.

“It is noteworthy that on assumption of office, the Kaduna Water Production was at 5%. We have been able to increase the production to over 25% in the last 20 months. We will ensure 100% production rate by the end of the 4th quarter of 2025.

“The Kaduna State Government is investing heavily in the rehabilitation and retrofitting of all water treatment plants and distribution mains, with emphasis on sanitation and hygiene.

“Our aim is to provide potable clean water to every home, not just in the urban areas but in our rural communities as well,” Governor Uba Sani said.

He said that the administration would revitalise the water supply system across the state, and has already mobilised contractors to 12 water treatment plants across the state.

“As part of our efforts to ensure the Kaduna State Water Corporation  lives up to its obligations, we have spent N800 million as payment for all outstanding salaries and wages of its staff members.

“We have returned their staff members to the state’s payroll until 2027, when the corporation must have fully stabilised to run as a commercial entity.

“We have equally spent N1.3 billion to settle outstanding electricity bills while spending over N400 million to purchase water purification chemicals. Over N1 billion has been spent in replacing vandalized and nonfunctional water pipelines,” the governor added.
