Police foil bandits’ attack, neutralise one in
A combined team of the Nigerian Police, Department of State Services and Katsina State Community Watch Corps have foiled an attempt by bandits to attack Dan Takuri village via Danmusa LGA of Katsina State.
“On the 15th of March, 2025, at about 1230 hrs, credible intelligence was received from the operative of the Department of State Services in Danmusa, that armed bandits in their numbers are assembling in Maijele Mountain of Danmusa LGA in a bid to launch an attack on Dan Takuri village of Danmusa LGA, Katsina.
“Upon receipt of the information, a joint team of police operatives and members of the KSCWC led by the DPO Danmusa stormed the mountain where the suspected armed bandits were assembling.
“A fierce gun duel ensued, resulting in the neutralisation of one of the armed bandits due to the superior tactics and firepower of the operatives, as several others escaped with various degrees of injuries,” DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, said in a statement.
He listed exhibits recovered at the scene to include one AK47 rifle with 3 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, a motorcycle, 50 wraps of Indian hemp, 32 bottles of soft drinks, a cutlass, and dangerous drugs.
The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State, Aliyu Abubakar Musa, commended the operatives for their professionalism and exceptional act of valour.
He reiterated the command’s commitment, in collaboration with sister security agencies, to protect the of lives and properties of the good people of Katsina State.
The commissioner urged the public to continue to support the command with timely and accurate information for prompt and decisive action against all criminal elements in the state.
