Indian Smuggler Caught With 47 Venomous Snakes On Plane

An Indian passenger arriving from Thailand was arrested at Mumbai airport for smuggling dozens of venomous snakes.

The snakes include 44 Indonesian pit vipers and three spider-tailed horned vipers, hidden in his checked luggage.

Customs officials also found five Asian leaf turtles.

The officials said the unusual wildlife seizure highlights a growing trend of exotic animal smuggling through Mumbai, with past cases involving gibbons, turtles, hornbills, and caimans.
