Cattle Rearers Association Applauds FG, FAO Partnership To Digitalize Agriculture In Nigeria

The Kulen Allah Cattle Rearers Association of Nigeria (KACRAN) has commended the collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the Food Security, and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to digitalize Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
This was contained in a statement by the association’s National President, Kalil Mohammad Bello.
He stated that the initiative marks a pivotal step towards modernizing agriculture and ensuring food security in the country.
Bello applauded the inception workshop on the FAO Digital Villages Initiative attended by over 100 stakeholders including government officials, Agri-tech startups, researchers, and farmers, convened to co-design the National Integrated Digital Agriculture Platform.
According to him, the workshop established a roadmap to digitize agricultural value chains, enhance farmer data systems, reduce post-harvest losses, and drive innovation through pilot projects such as AI-powered pest control and solar cold storage hubs.
“RIKE-SD, the technical facilitator, played a key role in coordinating stakeholder inputs and aligning the initiative with national agricultural transformation policies.
“KACRAN praised the Minister’s zeal and commitment, noting that the initiative has renewed hope among pastoralists and farmers, reflecting the Tinubu administration’s dedication to agricultural productivity.”
Bello said the association participated in the workshop and was optimistic that the government is sincerely positioning Nigeria as a global leader in food production.
“With Nigeria projected to become the third most populous nation by the end of the 21st century, KACRAN emphasized the need for scientific innovation in agriculture,” he stated, and said that the critical research findings unveiled during the workshop, if implemented, will significantly boost Nigeria’s agricultural output.
The KACRAN national president extended the gratitude of the association to FAO Nigeria and ECOWAS Representative, Mr. Kouacou Dominique Koffy, and his team for their exceptional coordination and contributions to the success of the workshop.
