COAS Literary Competition Champions Receive Prizes
Winners of the 2025 Edition of the Chief of Army Staff Literary Competition have received various prizes to encourage them to delve into the academics in order to attain excellence.
The annual competition held on 12 June 2025, drew participants from Secondary Schools and Tertiary Institutions across Nigeria’s Six Geopolitical Zones.
It was aimed at promoting intellectual growth, stimulating creativity, and uncovering hidden talents in young Nigerians.
At the award presentation ceremony held on 27 June 2025 at Headquarters 1 Division, Kaduna, two students under the Division’s Area of Responsibility emerged winners in their respective categories.
They are Ugwu Wisdom a Student of Building Technology at Kaduna State Polytechnic, who came 3rd in the Arts Category, and Adeboye Ahmed of Little Scholars School, Malali, Kaduna, who was second in the Primary Essay Category.
Ugwu receiced a cash prize of ₦200,000 while Adeboye got ₦100,000.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander Saraso applauded the initiative describing it as a platform for nurturing leadership, patriotism, and intellectual excellence.
“This competition celebrates not only bravery and discipline but also the power of the written word”, he said.
“Through literature, we sharpen minds, inspire unity, and build leaders who can think critically and act decisively.”
Saraso who was represented by the Division’s Chief of Staff, Brigadier General David Nwakonobi, commended the COAS, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his visionary leadership and unwavering support towards fostering academic excellence through initiatives such as the literary contest.
The event was attended by senior officers, commanders, and principal staff officers of the Division. The highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of cash awards to the winning students amid cheers and commendations.
