Gov. Yusuf distributes trucks of fertilizer to 44 LGA’s @ 50% discount
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has distributed 3 trucks of fertilizer to each of the 44 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state at a fifty percent (50%) discount.
Each truck contained 600 bags of fertilizer, making a total of 79,200 bags to the 44 LGAs
This is contained in a statement issued by Mustapha Muhammad, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor on Sunday in Kano.
Muhammad said that the governor made this assertion at the flag off of fertilizer distribution for 2025 wet season on Sunday, 29th, 2025 at the premises of Al Yuma Fertilizer plant in Madobi Local Government (LGA).
He said that the distribution of the fertilizer at the beginning of rainy season was brilliant decision which would surely benefit the farmers.
“We gathered here today not just to distribute bags of fertilizer, but to plant the seeds of self-reliance, economic prosperity, and collective dignity. We are here to renew a solemn pledge we made to our people: that under this administration, agriculture shall rise again—not as a relic of the past, but as a strong pillar of our future,” Muhammad quoted Yusuf as saying.
“Over the last two years, we have expanded access to farmland and irrigation facilities. We have successfully rehabilitated major irrigation schemes, awarded new projects across 11 Local Governments, and brought over 1,250 hectares under development,” he said.
Yusuf said that the government placed high priority on agriculture development in the state.
Adding that “the ongoing construction of a dam at Dansoshiya in Kiru LGA stands as a landmark in our quest for year-round farming.”
No doubt, the fifty percent discount of the fertilizer will enhance food production, economic growth and food security.
