Ballorn d’Or 2025: Dembele Crowned New King of Football
Paris Saint-Germain striker Ousmane Dembele has won the the football’s most prestigious award, the Ballorn d’Or, making him the best footballer in the world.
Dembele lifted the gold trophy on Monday night in Paris, beating Barcelona’s sensational young striker Lamine Yamal.
The 28-year-old France forward scored 35 goals and made 14 assists in 53 matches for PSG last season as they won the treble, including their first Champions League.
He was the joint top scorer in Ligue 1, with 21 goals, and named the French top flight and Champions League player of the year. He also helped PSG to the Club World Cup final where they lost to Chelsea in New Jersey.
Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmati won the women’s Ballorn d’Or for the third year in a row, beating Mariona Caldentey to the top prize.
Lamine Yamal and Vicky Lopez won the Kopa Trophy for best men’s and women’s young players at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards. The award recognises the best players in the world under the age of 21.
Arsenal emerged as the women’s club of the year and PSG won the men’s trophy.
