Police intercept N82m illicit drugs in Kano
Kano State Police Command has intercepted illicit drugs valued at over N82.7 million in an operation conducted in Rimin Auzinawa quarters of Kano metropolis.
A statement by the command spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said one Usman Umar, 19, was arrested during the operation authorised by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.
Kiyawa said a search conducted by the police in a house in the area led to the recovery of 603 packets of Tramadol tablets containing 60,300 pieces, valued at N60,300,000.
“Two hundred and ninety-nine packets of suspected Pregabalin capsules, consisting of 44,850 pieces valued at N22,425,000.
“The total estimated value of the intercepted intoxicants stands at N82,725,000,” the police spokesman said.
According to him, the successful operation highlights the command’s commitment to eradicating the menace of drug abuse and trafficking in Kano State.
“The suspect is currently helping investigation to uncover the network behind this illegal trade and bring all culprits to justice.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commends the vigilance and cooperation of the good people of Kano State, whose timely information was instrumental in this success. He also reiterates the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
“The Command urges the public to continue providing credible information to the police, assuring them of prompt action and confidentiality. Together, we can build a safer and drug-free Kano State,” he said.
