57 suspects in NDLEA net for drug-related offences in Kano
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 57 suspects for drug-related offences in Kano.
The Public Relations Officer, NDLEA Kano State Strategic Command, Mr Sadiq Maigatari, stated this in a statement on Sunday in Kano.
Maigatari said that the arrest was made in collaboration with the police command in Kano State.
“The NDLEA and the Nigeria Police Force conducted a 3‑day operation on 24, 25 and 27 September 2025 that resulted in the arrest of 57 suspects for various drug‑related offences,” he said.
Maigatari said that the raids covered multiple locations across the state, including Kofar Ruwa, Tashar Rami, Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna, Mil Tara, Zage, Dorayi Karshen Waya, Dawanau and the notorious Filin Idi.
“Operatives recovered assorted illicit substances and several locally made weapons. Preliminary searches and seizures were carried out, and investigations are ongoing to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
“Our resolve to eradicate drug abuse and associated thuggery in Kano remains unshakeable. We will continue to work tirelessly to create a safer, healthier community for all,” he said.
He commended the officers and men of the NDLEA and the police for their dedication during the operation and reiterated the importance of continued collaboration with the State Government and all stakeholders.
The commander appreciated all personnel who participated in the operation for their professionalism and dedication, and expressed appreciation for the continued support and cooperation of the police.
He also expressed appreciation to the State Government under the leadership of Gov. Abba Yusuf, whose visible efforts in curbing substance abuse and thuggery had greatly supported ongoing security and rehabilitation initiatives,
The State Joint Task Force Committee for Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation, had on Tuesday, September 24, 2025 arrested no fewer than 78 suspects for drug abuse and thuggery within four days.
