Police Apprehend Gunrunners, Rapists, Rescue 80 Kidnap Victims In Katsina

Katsina State Police Command has announced the arrest of 168 suspects for various offences in the month of September.
The Command spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, who made this known while briefing newsmen in Katsina said the offences include rape, armed robbery, gun running, unlawful possession of firearms, and 101 other offences.
He also said the command has foiled several bandit attacks, neutralised five suspected armed bandits and rescued over 80 kidnapped victims within the month of September.
According to him, among those arrested were 12 suspected armed robbers, five for murder and culpable homicide, over 20 suspected rapists, nine for vandalism, two suspected gun runners, three for unlawful possession of firearms, and
14 suspected drug peddlers.
Aliyu, who spoke on behalf of the state Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, said 1,298 rounds of live ammunition, four cartridges, one GPMG, two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated gun, and a dane gun were among exhibits recovered.
Other items recovered were five motor vehicles, 1,096 pieces of tramadol tablets, 42 pieces of exol tablets, wraps of Indian hemp, and large quantity of electric cables.
“These achievements would not have been possible without the support of the Katsina State Government and the good people of the state. We sincerely express our deepest appreciation for their support, collaboration and assistance in our crime-fighting efforts to maintain law and order in the state.
“However, we solicit for more support and cooperation from the members of the public to enable us to further improve on these successes.
