Foundation Enrols 2,000 Orphans Into School In Yobe

The Usman Ali Sulaiman Charity Foundation has enrolled 2,000 vulnerable and orphaned children in Yobe State into school.
To support the pupils’ smooth transition into school, the foundation provided each child with a complete set of learning materials, including school bags, uniforms, exercise books, writing materials, and registration forms.
The Director of the foundation, Mohammed Ibrahim DanShehu, said while launching the enrolment exercise in Potiskum, that the beneficiaries were from Nangere and Potiskum local government areas.
He said among the multiple objectives of the foundation was to provide access to education, especially for out-of-school children in Yobe state.
“To achieve this, we decided to enroll about 2,000 pupils into various primary schools in Nangere and Potiskum.
“The programme was informed by the educational challenges in the state, where insurgency has left many children on the streets or involved in illegal activities. We felt it was necessary to intervene at the start of the new academic session.”
In his remarks, the Yobe State Focal Person on Almajiri and Out-of-School Children, Mustapha Mohammed Gujba, commended the foundation for the intervention.
He highlighted Governor Mai Mala Buni’s continued investment in education through the construction of new schools and improved learning infrastructure, urging parents to take full advantage of these opportunities.
Mr. Gujba identified poverty and insecurity as major factors contributing to the high number of out-of-school children, adding that charitable interventions such as this would help bridge the gap.
