New Air Force Chief pledges renewed commitment to national security
The new Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has pledged to lead the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) with focus and commitment to ensure the security of the country.
Aneke, who officially assumed duty as the 23rd Chief of Air Staff, made the declaration on Thursday in his inaugural address.
He described his appointment as “a tremendous privilege and a solemn duty,” pledging to lead with humility, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to national security.
Aneke also pledged to strengthen inter-service synergy, enhance force readiness, and deliver the security architecture vital to Nigeria’s peace, progress, and transformation.
The COAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him, reiterating NAF’s unflinching loyalty to the Constitution and the Nigerian people.
He also appreciated the National Assembly, colleagues across the Armed Forces, and his family for their support.
Aneke paid glowing tribute to his predecessor, Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, for his exceptional leadership, professionalism, and courage, especially in steering the NAF through a defining phase in the fight against terrorism.
The new Air Chief also commended Abubakar’s legacy of excellence and service to the nation, promising to consolidate on the solid foundation already laid.
In his valedictory remarks, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed gratitude to Almighty God for the privilege of serving the nation and leading the NAF through an era of transformation.
He recounted major milestones, including enhanced operational efficiency, improved capacity building, and Nigeria’s assumption of the Chairmanship of the Association of African Air Forces.
While describing AVM Aneke as an officer of proven integrity, dedication, and competence, he urged him to sustain the gains recorded, uphold personnel welfare, and maintain a combat-ready, people-focused Air Force.
Abubakar also paid tribute to fallen heroes and expressed appreciation to the President, the Armed Forces leadership, colleagues, and family for their support throughout his service years.
