Benue Assembly Speaker Flags off APC E-Registration, Urges Mass Participation
The Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Berger Alfred Emberga, has flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) E-Registration Exercise in Benue State, as part of efforts to modernise party administration and strengthen internal democracy.
The Syndicate reports that the Speaker flagged off the exercise during a Train-the-Trainer Hands-On Device Summit organised for Local Government Supervisors, on Thursday at the APC State Secretariat in Makurdi.
The summit brought together party executives, local government supervisors, and digital registration officers from the state’s 23 LGAs in the state, for practical training on the newly introduced APC e-registration platform.
He said that the e-registration is a significant milestone in the party’s transition to a modern, fully digital membership management system.
Speaker Emberga described the launch as “a decisive step toward modernising party administration and strengthening internal democracy through technology,” emphasising that the nationwide digital registration initiative by the APC, aligns with global best practices and would deepen transparency, expand participation, and enable data-driven decision-making within the party.
According to him, the APC’s adoption of e-registration demonstrates its unwavering commitment to building a credible, comprehensive, and secure membership database that will reinforce the party’s structure at every level.
The Speaker commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia for championing digital innovation in the party.
He also lauded the Benue APC leadership led by Hon. Dr. Benjamin Omale for organising the statewide launch and the capacity-building summit.
Rt. Hon. Emberga charged participants to take the training seriously, describing the supervisors as the “key drivers of grassroots digital transformation.”
“Benue State must not be left behind in this digital shift. This training equips our supervisors with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to manage the new system effectively. A stronger, more coordinated APC begins with initiatives like this,” he added.
The Speaker reaffirmed the support of the Benue State House of Assembly to all programmes that promote political stability, digital inclusion, and citizens’ engagement, noting that credible governance begins with strong, organised political structures.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the APC E-Registration in Benue State, who is also the State Organizing Secretary of the party, Hon. James Ornguga, said the training was designed to equip supervisors with hands-on knowledge of the devices and software that will power the digital registration exercise.
He stated that the aim of the training includes, ensuring uniformity and accuracy in the e-registration process across all LGAs, building the capacity of supervisors to manage field-level digital operations, eliminating manual bottlenecks that previously hindered credible membership data as well as establishing a robust, real-time digital database for party planning and mobilisation.
Hon. Ornguga assured stakeholders that the APC in Benue State is fully prepared to deliver a flawless digital registration exercise, adding that the party’s structure at the grassroots will become stronger and more coordinated once the system is fully deployed.
In his remarks, the APC State Chairman Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale, appreciated Governor Hyacinth Alia for his unwavering support and continuous encouragement toward all initiatives aimed at strengthening the party.
Dr. Omale said the digital registration launch represents a new era for the APC in Benue State, and commended the Speaker for championing the programme with uncommon dedication. He urged all supervisors and party officials to embrace the innovation and ensure total compliance to the new digital framework.
Amid applause, Speaker Emberga formally launched the APC E-Registration Exercise in Benue State and directed participants to return to their LGAs as ambassadors of the new system.
The programme continues with technical demonstrations and hands-on sessions for participants from all 23 LGAs.
