Governor Radda Inaugurates Advisory Body of Traditional Rulers

A new advisory body consisting of traditional rulers and community leaders in Katsina State has been inaugurated by the state Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, on Tuesday in Katsina.
The Katsina State Council of Emirates was recently constituted by the governor as an advisory body on matters related to Islamic law, customary law, culture, chieftaincy affairs, and inter-communal relations, as well as provide guidance on public order, peace, and security.
“The Council will also support government efforts in community development, assist tax authorities, promote environmental protection and forest conservation, supervise sanitation activities, and help preserve our rich cultural heritage and traditional values,” Radda said during the inauguration.
The Syndicate reports that the body has members from the two Emirate councils in the state, the business community, youth, Islamic scholars, government representative and technocrats.
According to him, the constitution of the council is historic and will strengthen cooperation between the government and traditional institutions in the state.
The Katsina State Council of Emirates will be chaired by the Emir of Katsina, Albdulmumini Kabir Usman with the Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk Umar as Co-Chairman.
The members include all the kingmakers in Katsina and Daura Emirate Councils. They are the Kauran Katsina, Yandakan Katsina, Galadiman Katsina, Durbin Katsina, and Marusan Katsina, as well as Galadiman Daura, Kauran Daura, Limamin Juma’a, Dansawai, and Fada Babba.
Other members are the Secretary to the Government of the State, the Sardaunan Katsina Ambassador Ahmed Rufai, Ambassador Adamu Saeed Daura, the Madawakin Katsina Alhaji Hamza Abu Duwan, Alhaji Dahiru Barau MMangl, Walin Daura Alhaji Baba Buhari, Sheikh Yakubu Musa Hassan, Sheikh Naziru Kofar Baru, and Abdulaziz Abdulaziz Malumfashi.
Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Ida, Wazirin Katsina, will serve as Secretary of the Council, with Sada Salisu Ruma, the Danwairen Katsina as Assistant Secretary.
