Jigawa Govt distributes uniforms, instructional materials to nursing, midwifery students in Babura
The Jigawa State Government has launched the distribution of free uniforms and instructional materials to students of the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Health Sciences, Babura.
This is contained in a statement issued by Suleman Daudu, the Information Officer, Babura local government council on Sunday.
Daudu quoted the state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdullahi Muhammad Kainuwa, as saying at the ceremony that the initiative was part of the government’s commitment to inclusive education and the extension of the free girl-child education programme to nursing and midwifery colleges.
Kainuwa, represented by the Provost of the Jigawa State College of Nursing Sciences, Dr. Garba Adamu, charged the beneficiary students to reciprocate the gesture through dedication to their studies, excellent academic performance and by being good ambassadors of the nursing and midwifery profession.
He said that each student was given two sets of uniforms, a copy of the curriculum, a procedure manual, an identity card, a name tag and two textbooks approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
In his welcome address, the Director of the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Babura Campus, Malam Aliyu Maigida Sauwan, commended the state government for its commitment to investing in education, particularly in the health sector, noting that the initiative will yield positive results in the future.
On behalf of the students, Sadiya Bala Safiyanu and Rukayya Yahaya expressed gratitude to Gov. Umar Namadi, for the support and assured that the students would make the state proud in the health profession.
