Jigawa Govt Introduces Free Treatment For Diabetes, Hypertension, Sickle Cell

The Government of Jigawa State has introduced a landmark free treatmen programme for Non-Communicable Diseases in 12 hospitals across the state.

This was announced in a statement issued on Monday by Isa Surajo, the Technical Adviser on Health Matters on behalf of the government.

The free treatment is for diabetes, hypertension, and sickle cell, he said, adding that “the beneficiaries are entitled to free treatment as both outpatients and inpatients”.

“Eligible patients will receive comprehensive care, including Laboratory investigations, Radiological services (X-rays and ultrasounds) Essential medications and Physiotherapy.”

The general hospitals are those in Dutse, Hadejia, Gumel, Kazaure, Ringim, Birnin Kudu, Jahun, Babura, Kafin Hausa and Birniwa, as well as the Cottage hospitals in Bulangu and Gwaram.

“All Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants in Health Sector, and the management of various hospitals and communities are hereby directed to ensure that this privilege is not abused by non-beneficiaries to guarantee seamless quality service delivery and safeguard the programme against misuse,” Surajo said.
