India’s Police bust international drug syndicate linked to Nigerian nationals
India’s Police has dismantled an international drug trafficking syndicate operated by Nigerian nationals, arresting two men and seizing significant quantities of cocaine and MDMA (ecstasy) with an estimated street value of around $600,000, police said.
The operation began after officers received a tip-off in early December 2025 about a Nigerian man previously linked to drug cases who was allegedly supplying narcotics in south Delhi.
Analysis of the suspect’s phone and ongoing investigation enabled officers to identify and arrest a second Nigerian national, where additional MDMA tablets were recovered.
Police say the syndicate used WhatsApp numbers registered abroad and intermediaries to distribute drugs across Delhi and adjoining states.
Authorities also allege the network was linked to a “kingpin” based in Nigeria. Further investigation is underway to identify other members and trace the wider international network.
Both men reportedly entered India on business visas for garment trade purposes years earlier and, according to police, became involved in drug trafficking after financial difficulties.
