After A Major Goof, Presidency Drops Dakingari From Ambassadorial Posting
The presidency has withdrawn the posting of Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, former Kebbi governor, as ambassador-designate to Turkey, barely 24 hours after announcing the posting.
The presidency had in a major goof announced the posting of the former governor as ambassador-designate to Turkey even though he was not among the 67 ambassadorial nominees confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
The Syndicate had reported that Kebbi had two confirmed nominees, both career ambassadors, and Usman Dakingari was neither on the list of nominees sent to the Senate by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nor among those subsequently confirmed.
In a statement on Friday after deleting earlier posts on social media handles on the posting of four ambassador-designates, including Dakingari, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy said Kayode Are, the former director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS) will head to the United States; Ayodele Oke, France; and Amin Dalhatu, United Kingdom.
