Gov. Yusuf  officially rejoins APC in Kano

 

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has formally rejoined the All Progressives Congressman(APC), putting an end to the prolonged wait for his defection to the ruling party.

The governor’s defection came barely three days after his resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP), citing lingering internal crisis within the party.

Amid thunderous ovations from party supporters,Yusuf officially registered his membership of the APC on Monday at the Coronation Hall, Government House,Kano,amid tight security.

Yusuf launched the commencement of the APC membership E-registration in the state which was earlier put on hold in anticipation of his defection to the party from the NNPP.

The governor effected his membership registration amid cheers from the mammoth crowd largely made up of his supporters and the APC faithful.

In his remarks shortly after completing the exercise,the Governor said his decision to join the party was not driven by personal interest or ambition.

He said that he defected to the APC for the overall unity, peace, progress, stability and development of the state.

According to him,his defection to the party would generate opportunities to align with the Federal Government which would attract development projects and other dividends of democracy to the State.

Yusuf, called on the people of the state to “join me in our new journey that will bring peace, unity, stability, progress and development to our dear state.”

He thanked the APC Stakeholders in the state such as the former National Chairman of the party,Dr.Abdullahi Ganduje, Deputy President of the Senate,Barau Jibrin, Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata, for their prominent role in the process.

Those who witnessed the event included the immediate past National Chairman of the APC,Dr.Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi Ata.

Others were Senator representing Kano South Senatorial District, Abdulrahaman Kawu Sumaila,former Deputy Governor of the state,Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna,and the state APC chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Abbas.
