Kano Da’awa Group tasks Muslim Ummah on propagation of Islam
A Kano based Da’awa Group, the Mujamma’ud Da’awa, has appealed for support from the Muslim Ummah, toward executing its numerous programmes of propagating Islam in Nigeria.
Malam Zakariyya Ahmad, the Chairman, Mujamma’ud Da’awa, stated this when he spoke with the syndicate, an online publication on Monday in Karkasara, Tarauni Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State.
Ahmad said that the group’s mission was the propagation of Islam.
“We are a Da’awa Group, trying to spread the teachings of Islam, but we have different strategies, we visit the sick in hospitals, we visit charity homes, motherless homes, correctional centres, rehabilitation centres and other places to teach and spread Islam.
“Our main objective is Da’awa, that’s the propagation of Islam to non-Muslims, as well to strengthen the faith of believers in Islamic doctrine, we do this by educating them in Islamic knowledge and that’s why we are called an Educational.
“We got registered about 2 years ago, but we’ve been existing long ago before that.
“Our activities are not limited to the state or Kano Metropolis alone, we have people operating in remote communities across the state and even beyond, spreading Islam, ” he said.
Ahmad said that the group’s operations were divided into segments for optimum results.
“Our operations are divided into segments and each segment is taken care of by a committee, for instance, we have an education committee which is responsible for sending and the supervising Islamic teachers to places to teach Islamic knowledge.
“We have security committee charged with ensuring security in our operations and so on and so forth.
“We have actually recorded some milestone in our operations, in many instances we have been able to convert non-Muslims to Islam using our Da’awa and we are still converting many others.
“Our target is not just to convert a non believer into Islam but to ensure that even after converting he remained in Islam and we do this by educating him in Islamic knowledge and doctrine,” he said.
Ahmad added: “There was a case of a woman who had been a Muslim since 1979 but unfortunately, she couldn’t recite suratul fatiha, which is a basic foundation in Islam, we had to immediately enrolled her in school to get her educated.
“There was also a 70 year- old man who lacked basic Islamic knowledge, we had to arrange for immediate teaching for him on basic knowledge.
“A lot of people like these have been enrolled in Islam schools for knowledge, this is part of the responsibilities of our education committee.”
Ahmad said, however, that lots of people had yet to understand the concept of Da’awa in Nigeria.
“Many people don’t understand our mission, people don’t seem to understand the concept of Da’awa.
“For instance, if you have a new convert in a village, it is everybody’s duty to help teach him Islam knowledge, but many people don’t know this. We thank Allah that we are overcoming these challenges gradually.
“We have social media platforms for giving out information on our activities as well as teaching and propagation of Islam,” he said.
Ahmad said that the group sometimes faced challenges in its operations.
“For instance, some Christian converts would want us to continue providing luxury to them just like they were getting in their former religion, but we can’t afford that. Ours is limited to providing teachings and knowledge using our little resources.
“Sadly, some converts don’t even have job’s skills that could help provide means of livelihood to sustain them and they expect us to take up their responsibilities after converting to Islam, this is an impossibility,” he said.
Ahmad added that the group had been operating using donations and support from individuals.
“We have individuals here and there who send their donations for our programmes here and then, and we have been able to use these little contributions to send tutors to villages to teach Islam, but this is not enough, we require more donations from individuals to execute our programmes.
“We hereby call on Muslims, either wealthy or not poor to know that they have a duty to help propagate Islam using whatever favours Allah has provided to them. If it’s knowledge, wealth, wisdom or any other thing. People must help to spread Allah’s words throughout the world.
“People can contribute through various means, you don’t necessarily need to accompany us to the remote villages to do Da’awa, but you can fuel our vehicles for the trip, you can sponsor the wedding of new converts, you can help to build schools, places of worship for them through donations.
“We have Islamic teachers in our payroll in many communities in the state teaching Islamic knowledge.
“Everybody’s contributions is welcome in our journey, we welcome contributions from every Muslim no matter how small or little,” he said.
Ahmad said that the Da’awa Group was working on plans to set up a foundation that would ensure regular fundings for its activities.
“We are working on plans to open teaching centres, schools, mosques, provide water to communities with new converts among other things.
“Our target is to reach out to every community in the state and the nation at large to spread the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him.
“In our journey, we feel that soliciting for money or donations for our programmes alone might not provide a lasting solution, because what we get is limited as the giver might not be there always, so we plan to have a foundation that will be self-catering or self sustaining through investment that will generate regular income.
“We want wealthy individuals and philanthropists to come forward and invest in our programmes and provide things that will serve as investment, it could be tricycles, property and any other halal investments for regular income, someone can give out his shop, his shares in companies, his transportation vehicles as wakaf investment for Da’awa,” he said.
