APC Speakers Elect Jigawa’s Dangyatin as Conference Chairma

The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Progressive Conference of Speakers of State Houses of Assembly.
Dangyatin was elected at the Annual Congress of the Progressive State Assemblies Conference held in Abuja.
The political body was established to serve as a coordinating platform for Speakers of State Houses of Assembly elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with the mandate of promoting the party’s philosophy, strengthening internal cooperation, advancing sustainable democracy, and fostering peace and national development.
Other officers elected at the congress include the Speaker of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly as Deputy Chairman (South), while the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly emerged as Deputy Chairman (North). The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly was elected Treasurer.
Also elected were six Zonal Vice Chairmen, including the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, representing the South-West zone, while the North-Central zone is represented by the Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, among others.
The newly elected executives of the Progressive Speakers Conference are expected to be sworn in on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Meanwhile the Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, congratulated Rt. Hon. Dangyatin on what he described as a well-deserved victory.
The congratulations message was in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr Hamisu Muhammed Gumel said the election of Dangyatin came at a critical period as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Governor Namadi expressed confidence that the Jigawa Speaker would deploy his wealth of experience and commitment to strengthen coordination among APC-led state assemblies and contribute significantly to the party’s success at all levels in the forthcoming polls.
