By Muhammad Maitela, Damaturu

The Wike faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated a caretaker committee in Yobe State, with a pledge to unite members and secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

At the inauguration of the committee on Monday in Damaturu, Yusuf Abdullahi Mallushe, the state PDP factional chairman said that their emergence marks a fresh beginning for the party following recent legal victories.

He credited this success to divine will and the support of national leaders, including Barrister Nyesom Wike.

“My team and the people of Yobe State assure our national leaders, all NEC members, and supporters at every level of our unwavering commitment to strengthen the PDP for success in the 2027 general elections,” Mallushe said.

Speaking at the inauguration in Damaturu, Hon. Halilu Abubakar Mazagani, the committee’s Deputy Chairman and 2023 PDP Senatorial Candidate, extended gratitude to the party’s national leadership, specifically Barrister Nyesom Wike.

“Our mission here is first to thank the national leadership, and specifically our national leader, Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his support,” Mazagani stated.

“We also greet all PDP members from across Yobe who have come to witness this significant day.”

He assured Wike that the new state leadership is dedicated to rebuilding the party in Yobe.

With the 2027 elections approaching, Mazagani expressed strong confidence and called for unity among all members, including those with grievances.

“The 2027 election cycle is indeed around the corner. We in the PDP, Yobe State, are calling on all our members to come together,” he declared.

“We must unite to move Yobe forward. We are urging all citizens to put Yobe first to bring about change.”

He acknowledged the the defection of many PDP members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but said the new leadership has a strategy to bring them back to the party.

“We now have a new leadership that will steer Yobe State. We will bring everybody back to our party through mobilization.

“We will meet with people house-to-house, understand their concerns, and show them this is a new beginning. We must return to the grassroots.”
