Argungu Fishing Festival Motor Rally Begins
A motor rally involving more than thirty vehicles on Wednesday zoomed out of Abuja to signal the commencement of the Argungu Fishing Festival.
The rally was jointly flagged up by the Minister of Trade and Industry Dr Jumoke Oduwole who was represented and the Director General of the Nigeria Automobile Development Commission, Dr Olwemimo Osanipin, at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The landmark ceremony was witnessed by a large crowd of enthusiasts including the Minister of Budget and National Planning Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, former deputy governor of Kebbi state and now National Organizing Secretary of the APC Alhaji Suleman Argungu and many other dignitaries.
The motor rally, which has been the traditional kick starter of the Fishing Festival over the years, attracts many automobile brands who take the opportunity showcase their products to add color to the event as they travel across states before reaching Kebbi.
The motor rally will pass through Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara and Sokoto states.
On Saturday – the day of the grand finale, the motorcade will reach Birnin Kebbi and end up in Argungu, where a colorful reception awaits the participants.
