A total of 1.5 million candidates have so far registered for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) ahead of the February 28 deadline set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

In a notice on Tuesday, JAMB announced that while sale of e-PINs will close at 12:00 midnight on Thursday, February 26, 2026, registration will end on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

As of February 17, JAMB disclosed that over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered nationwide.

However, the board said that despite this impressive figure, registration centres across the country are operating at barely 30 per cent of their daily capacity, raising concerns that many eligible candidates are yet to register.

JAMB said, at full capacity, at least 100,000 candidates could register daily.

In spite of this  JAMB said “there will be no extension of the registration deadline”.

It therefore warned that candidates who delay registration until the final days may encounter avoidable challenges and there will be room for any extension.
