NUJ Jigawa Distributes Food Items and Cash to Families of Deceased Members
The Jigawa State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has donated food items and cash to the families of deceased and retired members.
The ceremony, held today in Dutse at the Secretariat of the Union, saw the distribution of 25kg bags of rice, spaghetti, and approximately three hundred and twenty naira to the families of the late and retired members.
Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila, General Manager of FRCN Horizon FM Dutse, commended the NUJ for this laudable initiative. He assured attendees that, as elders of the Union, they would support and expand the program in future editions. “When you talk about the welfare and development of journalists, it brings me great joy,” he stated.
He also expressed his desire to collaborate with the NUJ to enhance the impact of subsequent editions, encouraging the union to engage both governmental and non-governmental organizations for additional support.
Alhaji Ali Falaki, Station Manager of Freedom Radio Dutse, noted that the initiative is commendable and will improve the upkeep of families of the deceased. He reiterated their commitment to providing greater support for the NUJ in future editions.
In his remarks, Comrade Ismai’la Ibrahim Dutse, Chairman of the NUJ Jigawa State Council, reaffirmed the union’s commitment to supporting the families of deceased/retired members. He emphasized that the program reflects the broader humanitarian efforts of the Jigawa State Government under Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi. He extended his appreciation to the government for its ongoing support and numerous developmental projects.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Salmanu Adamu Rishi expressed profound gratitude to the NUJ for its kindness, especially during Ramadan. He prayed for Allah’s blessings on the members and the Executive Council.
The General Manager of NTA Dutse, represented by Ibrahim Muhammad, delivered a goodwill message.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of cash and palliatives to the beneficiaries.
