A former Deputy Governor of Kano State and 2023 governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Malam Nasiru Gawuna, has resigned from the party.
In a resignation letter dated March 29, 2026, and addressed to the APC chairman in Gawuna Ward, Nassarawa Local Government Area, Gawuna said his decision was personal and voluntary.
“I hereby formally resign my membership from the All Progressives Congress (APC), effective March 29, 2026,” he stated.
Gawuna also expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunities given to him during his time as a member, including his tenure as deputy governor and his role as the APC governorship candidate in the 2023 elections.
Sources close to the former deputy governor said that he was expected to meet with former Gov. Rabiu Kwankwaso, raising speculations about a possible new alliance between the two.
