Gov Yusuf assures of improved water supply in Kano State

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has assured of his administration’s sustained commitment to improving water supply across the state, urging stakeholders to cooperate with the government in protecting vital public utilities for the benefit of all.
The Chief Press Secretary, to the Governor, Malam Mustapha Muhammad, stated in a statement that Yusuf said this when he inspected the Tamburawa Water Treatment Plant, as part of his tour of water treatment plants.
Muhammad quoted the governor as directing the state Ministry of Water Resources to take immediate steps to regulate the activities of sand miners around water treatment plants across the state.
He said the directive was part of efforts by the Yusuf administration to safeguard critical water infrastructure and prevent any form of disruption to the effective production and supply of potable water to the people.
The Governor stressed that unchecked sand mining activities pose a serious threat to the functionality of water treatment facilities, potentially undermining government investments aimed at ensuring sustainable access to clean and safe drinking water.
He stressed the need for strict monitoring and enforcement of regulations to ensure that such activities do not compromise the integrity of water sources and treatment processes.
