Kano North Stakeholders endorse Sen.Barau for 2027

Stakeholders in Kano North Senatorial have endorsed Sen. Barau Jibrin as their preferred aspirant for the National Assembly in the 2027 general elections.
This is contained in a press statement issued on Monday and signed by the Chairman of the Kano North Political Stakeholders Forum, Aliyu Abbas Gumawa in Kano.
The stakeholders rejected the purported senatorial ambition of the immediate past Minister of State for Housing, Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo.
They said that Barau had proven to be a worthy representative of the zone and promised to support him in 2027 poll.
The stakeholders said they had carefully assessed recent political developments in the zone and found Gwarzo’s ambition as misplaced .
They added that Gwarzo’s entry into the senatorial race as lacking grassroots support and backing.
According to they, the declaration by Gwarzo is attended largely by individuals outside the constituency, indicating “a growing disconnect between the aspirant and the people he seeks to represent.”
The stakeholders also said Gwarzo’s ambition is being pushed by outsiders and political actors whose influence does not reflect the realities of electoral strength within Kano North.
They added that increasing external interference in the district’s political affairs and “attempts by non-indigenes of the constituency to impose or promote candidates without due regard to the will of the people”, would not succeed.
Reaffirming their position, the stakeholders expressed “strong confidence” in Senator Barau Jibrin, describing him as “a tested, trusted, and result-oriented representative” whose performance and accessibility continue to earn him support across party lines.
“Kano North is not available for political experimentation or imposed candidacies,” they stressed, urging political actors to respect the will of the electorate and allow the people to determine their future “based on performance, loyalty, and proven representation.”
