
Oyo Grand Chief Imam pays courtesy visit to DSS Director in Oyo State

The Grand Chief Imam of Oyo Land, Sheikh Al-Imam Barrister Bilal Husayn Akinola Akeugberu, has emphasized the importance of collaboration between religious leaders and security agencies in maintaining societal stability and addressing emerging security challenges.
The Grand Chief Imam, said this on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Director of Service of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oyo State Command, Mr. Usman Biu.
He reiterated the commitment of the Muslim community in Oyo Land to continue supporting lawful authorities in ensuring peace and harmony.
The visit, which took place in Oyo State, was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship between the Muslim community and security agencies, as well as fostering mutual cooperation in the promotion of peace, unity, and security within the state.
Accompanying the Grand Imam on the visit was Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, a reputable and respected member of the Oyo State Muslim Community.
In his response, the DSS Director, Mr. Usman Biu, appreciated the visit and commended the leadership of the Grand Chief Imam for fostering unity and promoting peaceful coexistence. He assured the delegation of the DSS’s continued dedication to safeguarding lives and property, while also encouraging sustained dialogue with community leaders.
The visit marks another significant step in enhancing synergy between religious institutions and security agencies in Oyo State.
