Jigawa convenes National Prayers for Peace, Security, National Unity

The Jigawa State Government has convened a special national prayer session aimed at seeking divine intervention for lasting peace, improved security, and national unity across Nigeria.
The event, which brought together thousands of Qur’anic reciters and Islamic scholars from across the country, was held at the Manpower Development Institute )MDI), Dutse, under the leadership of Governor Malam Umar Namadi.
Speaking during the gathering, Governor Namadi said the prayer session was organized as part of efforts to support ongoing measures being implemented by governments at all levels to address insecurity and other national challenges confronting the country.
“Despite the significant efforts by both federal and subnational governments, we believe it is equally important to turn to divine intervention,” he said.
He stressed that alongside policy measures and security operations, spiritual efforts remain important in seeking sustainable peace and stability.
The Governor explained that the initiative was jointly organized by the Jigawa State Government, the National Centre for Qur’anic Reciters, and the Jigawa State Forum for Qur’anic Memorization, saying that participants from about 26 states of the federation attended the programme, with over 4,000 Khatama (complete recitation of the Qur’an) performed by the reciters as special prayers were offered for Nigeria’s peace, unity, and prosperity.
Governor Namadi stated that the prayer session coincided with the sacred first ten days of Zul-Hijjah, a period regarded as spiritually significant in Islam, expressing hope that the prayers offered during the gathering would attract Allah’s mercy and blessings upon the nation.
“We strategically chose the auspicious first ten days of Zul Hajj for this session, hoping that these sacred days would amplify our pleas for lasting peace.”
He further stated that the programme was also intended to support the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in tackling insecurity, strengthening national cohesion, and promoting socio-economic development across the country.
“Therefore, as part of our contribution to national peace, we are complementing the federal government’s security initiatives with fervent prayers.”
The Governor commended the organizers, Islamic scholars, and participants for their commitment and sacrifice, describing the gathering as a demonstration of collective patriotism and concern for Nigeria’s future.
He urged Nigerians to continue praying for the country while supporting government initiatives aimed at building peace and progress.
The event featured Qur’anic recitations, supplications for peace and security, and special prayers for the nation’s leaders, armed forces, and citizens.
