JIGAWA NUJ TO HOSTS NEC MEETING
Jigawa State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) says it is working on plans to host the Union’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting this week.
According to a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the council, comrade Ismai’l Ibrahim Dutse, and the acting secretary, Comrade Aminu Umar Shuwajo, the meeting will be held between Monday, 10th August, and Wednesday, 12th August, 2026
The statement said that participants would come from thirty-six states and the federal capital Territory, Abuja, with guests expected to arrive on Monday, August 10th.
Also as part of the activities, the National President of the NUJ, Comrade Alhassan Yahya Abdullahi, would be the special guest of honor at the final of the 3rd edition of the Inter-Security and Media Football Competition, scheduled to take place on August 10, 2026, at Dutse Township Stadium.
According to the statement, other activities during the event include a media tour of the state government projects sites, courtesy visits to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Jigawa State, Malam (Dr) Umar A Namadi, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji (Dr) Hamim Muhammad Nuhu Sanusi and NEC meeting (Technical).
“The participants are expected to depart on Wednesday, August 12th, as the National President of the NUJ, comrade Alhassan Yahya, will meet Jigawa veteran journalists on the same day.
While praying for a safe trip for the participants, the statement appreciated the support of Governor Malam Umar A Namadi, for his efforts towards making the hosting right a reality.
