A delegation of Ngizim farmers, business leaders and community stakeholders from Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State has pledged its support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The delegation, led by the APC Zonal Vice Chairman for Yobe South, Alhaji Mohammed Inusa, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to Wali at his residence in Damaturu.

Inusa said the visit was intended to promote reconciliation, unity and renewed engagement between the Ngizim community and the state’s political leadership.

He however said the Ngizim people, who are actively involved in farming, commerce, entrepreneurship, and progressive causes, have experienced limited engagement with the government.

“We have come to say that Ngizim is APC and APC is Ngizim. We want to put the past behind us and work together for the greatness of Yobe state,” Inusa said.

He also appealed for greater inclusion of the Ngizim people in the political affairs of the state, particularly in future appointments and elections.

“We are not asking the government to remove anyone from office. All we are saying is that the Ngizim community should be remembered in the future. Consider our sons and daughters for future elections and appointments. We have capable individuals who can contribute to the development of Yobe,” he said.

Inusa said the community’s support for Wali was based on what he described as the candidate’s open-door policy, humility, willingness to listen and ability to unite people.

He also pledged to mobilise the Ngizim community in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai and other APC candidates contesting National and State Assembly seats in 2027.

Responding, Wali thanked the delegation for the visit and commended the Ngizim community for its commitment to dialogue and reconciliation.

He described the Ngizim people as hardworking, peaceful and enterprising, noting their contributions to the economy of Yobe South.

“Potiskum is the commercial heartbeat of Yobe. Without Ngizim farmers and businessmen, Yobe’s economy cannot thrive. You are builders, creators of wealth and a source of pride to us,” Wali said.

Wali assured the delegation that its concerns had been heard and would receive due attention, stressing that governance should be based on inclusion, justice and equal opportunity.

“I want to be a governor for all—everyone who calls Yobe home. Our diversity is our strength,” he said.

He urged the delegation to return to their communities and encourage eligible voters to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 elections.

The meeting ended with prayers and renewed expressions of unity and solidarity, with the delegation reaffirming its support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
