The Kano State Government says it plans to compile a register of all unemployed youths across the state, towards finding lasting solutions to the menace of unemployment.
The state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Comrade Ibrahim Waiya, stated this when he addressed a mammoth crowd of supporters and well wishers shortly after assuming duty at the Sports Ministry in Kano on Wednesday.
Waiya, who was redeployed from the Information Ministry to the Sports Ministry last week, said the register would provide the government with a database of all unemployed youths in the state for planning and development.
“We are going to form a register of all unemployed youths in the state, the register will have all the details of all unemployed youths in the state, both males and females.
“Already, I have spoken with Gov. Abba Yusuf on the register and he assured that the idea was to render some assistance to the teeming unemployed youths, so they can become self reliant,” he said.
Waiya called on youths in the state to mobilize themselves towards the re-election of Gov. Yusuf in 2027 general elections.
“It is my hope that our teeming youths in the state will continue to give the necessary support to the government to enable it deliver democracy dividends to the people.
“I call on our youths to come out enmass to vote for him in 2027 poll,” he said.
He described his redeployment to the Sports Ministry as a call to service, pledging to put in his best to turn around the fortunes of the ministry.
Waiya added that his focus was to serve the people and not to make money in government.
He promised to mobilize at least 3 million votes for the governor in the 2027 poll.
“I want to assure the governor that his decision to move me to the Sports Ministry was not a mistake as will continue to serve.
“I want to promise the governor from 1 million to 3 million votes in the 2027 Governorship Election. I assure you that your re-election bid will be easy in the forthcoming poll,” he said.
