Spain defeated the Three Lions of England 2-1 on Sunday to win their 4th European championship in sixteen years.

Spain won the Euro Cup in 2008, 2010, 2012 and the 2024 championship held in Germany.

After a cagey first half, Spain broke the deadlock, hitting the net in the 47th minute of play after Lamine Yamal teed up Nico Williams inside the box who rolled the ball into the bottom right corner, past Jordan Pickford to make it 1-0.

Dani Olmo would have made it 2-0 for Spain when he found himself in a great position after collecting a precise pass inside the penalty area and went for goal, but the shot never troubled the goalkeeper as it flew well wide of the right post.

Another effort in the 54th minute saw Nico Williams shot from mid-range glided inches away from the left post.

It was the turn of England’s Jude Bellingham in the 64th minute who misdirected his shot from the edge of the box.

Two minutes later, Yamal perfectly drilled shot  towards the left post was saved by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

In the 70th minute, Spain’s Fabian Ruiz side stepped a tackle after receiving a pass, advanced then hit a booming shot from mid-range which only rose at the last second to fly just over the bar.

England equalised three minutes later through Cole Palmer who received a clever pass from Bellingham, stepped inside his man on the edge of the box and whipped a tremendous shot into the bottom left corner to make it 1-1.

Spain took the lead again in the 86th minute, and Marc Cucurella was the provider as he slipped the ball to Oyarzabal who simply steered it home from close range to make it 2-1.
