The Commissioner for Health in Abia State, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, has announced her resignation from the State Executive Council.
The Syndicate reports that Ngozi was suspended by Governor Alex Otti a month ago for alleged abuse of office.
Her resignation brought to three, the number of Commissioners who resigned within a week.
The others are Commissioners for Science and Technology, Mr Chima Oriaku, and that of Agriculture, Professor Monica Ironkwe.
Ngozi’s resignation was confirmed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ukoha Njoku-Ukoha, on Wednesday.
“The suspended Commissioner for Health, Dr Ngozi Okoronkwo, has tendered her resignation letter to the governor, Dr Alex Otti,” he stated.
According to him, Governor Otti has accepted the resignation, and thanked her for “her modest achievements in repositioning the health sector for better service delivery in the last one year.”
