Sule Lamido Trolls Jigawa SIEC, Govt Over N5m For LG Election

Former Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido has castigated the state Independent Electoral Commission for fixing N5 million and N2 million as fees for candidates constesting in the October local government elections in the state.
According to the commission, chairmanship candidates will pay N5 million and those for councillorship seats N2 million.
“APC controlled government of Jigawa state has WON all the Chairmanship seats of the 27 Local Governments and the 287 Councilorship seats in the YET to be conducted local government elections throughout the State”.
“The reason being no opposition party is able to pay the FIVE MILLION NAIRA for the Chairmanship and TWO MILLION NAIRA for the Councilorship nomination forms from the State electoral commission”.
“While other States are engaged in protests over hunger and poverty, congratulations Jigawa for being the most prosperous State in Nigeria,” he wrote sarcastically on his Facebook page.
When contacted through his mobile phone, the chairman Jigawa State Independent Electoral Commission, Alhaji Auwalu Harbor, said he was breaved at the moment, but would respond appropriately by Wednesday.
“I’m correctly in my home village over the death of my brother. Please exercise a little patience, I may resume office tomorrow, so that we can see,” he told our correspondent.
