Tea vendor kills 20-year-old man over bread in Jigawa

Police have arrested a tea vendor in Jigawa State who is suspected to have killid one Hassan Garba for stealing his bread.
The suspect, Abdulrashidu Ya’u, was arrested in Sararai village near Jigawar Tsada in Dutse Local Government Area on August 19, at around 5:00 am.
A statement by DSP Lawan Adam,
The Police Public Relations Officer in  Jigawa state, said on Tuesday that the suspect accused the deceased ofcontinuously stealing stealing bread, milk, noodles, and petrol from him,

“On receiving the report, a standby patrol team promptly rushed to the scene, apprehended the suspect and conveyed the victim to Rasheed Shekoni Teaching Hospital for immediate medical attention.

“The medical doctor on duty certified the 20-year-man dead. His remains were examined, photographed and later released to his relatives for burial according to Islamic rite.

“The suspect admitted during interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Dutse that the deceased had upset him by stealing his goods to the point where he had informed his parents about it, but nothing was done.

“Upon apprehending the deceased at this point, he made the decision to tie him with a rope and began striking him with a whip in secret”, the PPRO stated.

He pointed out that neighbours within the vicinity heard the deceased’s cry for help and alerted the police.

Adam assured that the suspect will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigation.
