Yusuf most labour friendly governor in Nigeria- Institute

The Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies, has described Kano Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State as one of the most labour friendly governors in the country, considering his efforts toward building vibrant trade unions in the state.
This contained in a letter sent to the Governor and signed by Dr Raji Michael on behalf of the Director General and Chief Executive of the institute.
“I must indeed confirm that you are the most labour friendly governor in the country being the first governor in Nigeria to sponsor this type of capacity building workshop for the labour leaders in the state in the year 2024.
“Your Excellency, on behalf of Hon. Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Barr. Nkiru Onyejeocho, the Institute writes to acknowledge with gratitude your commitment to workers’ education and for the sponsorship of union executives and members of Nigeria Labour Congress, Kano Chapter to participate in the just concluded special workshop on Conflict Management for Harmonious Industrial Labour Relations Environment,’ from 11-13 September, 2024.
“The Institute particularly appreciates your continuous effort geared towards building responsive and vibrant trade unions in Kano State necessary for promoting a peaceful industrial relations climate for the progress of the state.
“The training provided valuable insights and practical conflict resolution strategies that would foster effective labour- management relations for higher workers’ productivity,” he said.

He said the participants returned home with a renewed sense of purpose, adding that they wrre eager to apply what they had learned.

“While the institute appreciated your trust, the institute is also seeking for more collaborative opportunities to assist in equipping the labour to advance more,” he said.

The Director General commended the state governor’s commitment toward the payment of the new N70,000 minimum wage for the state workers.

Yusuf had on Tuesday approved N71,000 as minimum wage for the state civil servants.
