Court sets trial date for “I can make you disappear” lawmaker
A Kuje Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, has fixed November 8 for the trial of federal lawmaker Alex Ikwechegh who assaulted a Bolt driver.
The House of Representatives member was, however, granted bail in the sum of N500,000 after his arraignment on Wednesday.
He was charged for assaulting a Bolt driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, at his residence in Abuja.
Ikwechegh pleaded not guilty to the charges of abuse of office, assault and threat to life brought against him by the Police.
Upon taking his plea, Ikwechegh through his counsel, asked the court to grant him bail, which the magistrate did.
The magistrate, Abubakar Umar Sai’id granted the defendant bail in the sum N500,000, and to produce two sureties in like sum.
The court ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide utility bills as proof of residence.
